Texas Clavos. State of Texas design decorative nail heads made of solid cast iron.
Size is approximately 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". The stem/shaft is about 1".
If you are looking for machine-made clavos, these are not for you. Each is unique. Weld spots may be visible on newly made clavos. These will go away in time if you want a rustic look. If you prefer a color, you can easily paint these to the color of your choice. Spray paints work best. If to be used outdoors or in moist or humid areas, we recommend sealing the complete clavo with a Rustoleum type of spray sealer.
These are hand-forged cast iron. They are unfinished and the metal is raw. Areas of rust will be visible as this is a natural process for raw metal. This does not affect your ability to use them properly.
Not all pieces will have rust in the same parts as the others. The best way to use them is to use a spray paint and paint to the color of your choice.
If you want them all to be rusty and look like each other, you can put them in water and rust them purposefully till you get the look you want. These are hand-forged and the discoloration around the star is due to excess heat in the welding process of the stem.
These are not meant to be hammered in directly. They are accents. Use a rubber mallet to tap them in after you have drilled a pilot hole.
